The revised Alliance Temporary Family Friendly Hours provision has been developed and published within the Maternity, Adoption and Shared Parental Leave policies and procedures, following full organisational consultation.
Temporary Family Friendly Hours are available to request to support an individual’s return to work following an extended period of family leave, providing flexibility and assistance to the individual whilst supporting childcare needs, by enabling alternative work patterns around childcare responsibilities to be trialled prior to submitting a flexible working request. Temporary family friendly hours may be requested for a period of up to three months.
From 1 June 2024 (the date of implementation of the new policy), individuals who are currently working temporary family friendly hours under a local arrangement via their line manager under the previous policy will be able to continue working their existing arrangement.
Individuals who are actively engaged in discussion with their line manager and have agreed a local arrangement under the previous policy and are due to return to work from family leave within the three months following the implementation of the new policy (between 1 June 2024 and up to and including 31 August 2024), will be able to continue with their agreed temporary family friendly hours arrangements under the previous policy.
Individuals who are currently on a period of extended family leave and due to return to work from 1 September 2024 will be eligible to request temporary family friendly hours under the revised provision effective from 1 June 2024 only, in discussion with their line manager.
Individuals and their line managers are asked to familiarise themselves with the revised temporary family friendly hours provision within the Maternity, Adoption and Shared Parental Leave policies and procedural guidance. These documents will be uploaded to the 'Your Leave Provisions' page by 7 June 2024.
